How to Quote a Kitchen Fitting Job UK: Pricing, Templates & What to Include
Kitchen fitting is one of the highest-value residential trades. It's also one of the most complex to quote — there are more variables, more trades involved, and more opportunity for scope creep than almost any other project.
Getting your quote right from the start protects you, builds trust with the client, and dramatically increases your chances of winning the job.
Why Kitchen Quotes Are Different
A bathroom renovation has a contained scope. A kitchen is almost never that simple:
- Multiple trades involved: carpenter/fitter, plumber, electrician, sometimes plasterer and tiler
- Appliance supply: are you supplying, or is the client? Who installs?
- Worktops: supply and fit, template only, or client-arranged fabricator?
- Existing kitchen removal: disposal included?
- Gas: if there's a gas hob or oven, Gas Safe registration required
Each of these is a potential "I thought that was included" moment if you don't address it upfront. Your quote is the place to eliminate all ambiguity.
What to Include in a Kitchen Fitting Quote
Scope Section
Break the job into clear phases:
Preparation / Strip Out
- Remove and dispose of existing kitchen units, worktops, and appliances
- Disconnect existing plumbing and electrical (specify: capped or moved to new positions?)
- Remove wall tiles if applicable
Carpentry / Unit Installation
- Supply and fit base units [from which range/supplier, or customer-supplied]
- Supply and fit wall units [specify]
- Fit larder/pantry units [specify]
- Fit cornice, plinth, pelmet [specify]
- Fit doors and drawer fronts
- Adjust hinges and runners for level operation
Worktops
- Supply and fit worktops [material, edge profile, supplier]
- Cut all required apertures (hob, sink, etc.)
- Join and silicon seal all joints
- OR: Template only — worktops to be fabricated and fitted by [stone fabricator name]
Plumbing
- First fix: move and extend supply / waste to new positions
- Second fix: connect sink, dishwasher, washing machine
- Install flexible connections to new supply positions
Electrical
- First fix: re-route sockets and spurs to new positions
- Under-cabinet lighting installation [specify circuit type]
- Cooker circuit [if being added or moved]
- Second fix: fit sockets, switches, and lighting
Tiling [if applicable]
- Tile splashback area [specify m², tile supply by whom]
Appliances
- Install oven / microwave in housing
- Install hob and connect [electrical / Gas Safe engineer to connect gas]
- Install dishwasher / washing machine
Finishing
- Silicon all joints
- Fit handles [customer supplied / quote includes]
- Punch list check and final clean
The Gas Question
If there's a gas hob, someone needs to connect it, and that someone must be Gas Safe registered. Make it clear in your quote whether:
- You are Gas Safe registered and this is included, or
- Gas connection to be arranged by client with a Gas Safe engineer
Never leave gas ambiguous. It creates liability if something goes wrong.

Winning Kitchen Fitting Jobs
Kitchen fitting is a high-consideration purchase. Clients spend weeks choosing their kitchen and are emotionally invested before they even contact a fitter. They're not picking a fitter on price alone — they're picking someone they trust to carry out work they care deeply about.
Visual proposals make a significant difference here. A client who can see a before/after render of their new kitchen — their actual kitchen, their actual layout — before signing is far more likely to commit. The decision stops feeling like a leap of faith.
