Driveway Quote Template UK: Tarmac, Block Paving & Resin (With Pricing Guide)

Driveway work is competitive. Most homeowners get multiple quotes, and the range between the lowest and highest is often enormous — partly because the scope can vary significantly, and partly because some contractors cut corners that clients don't notice until later.

A well-written quote sets you apart from the start: it shows you know your trade, you've covered all the bases, and there won't be nasty surprises.

What Varies Between Driveway Quotes

Before the template: the biggest source of confusion on driveway quotes is what's actually being quoted. Two contractors can price the same driveway at £6,000 and £3,500 not because one is overcharging, but because they're quoting different things:

  • Sub-base depth: A proper MOT Type 1 sub-base to the correct depth costs money. Shortcuts here cause driveways to sink within 2–3 years. Is your sub-base specified?
  • Edging and kerbs: Included or excluded?
  • Gates / dropped kerb: Who arranges? Is it included?
  • Existing surface: Rip up and remove, or overlay?
  • Drainage: Surface water management — SuDS compliant? Permeable surface?
  • Guarantee: Do you guarantee the finished surface?

State all of this explicitly. It's what separates your professional quote from a vague number.

Include Your Guarantee (It Wins Jobs)

A driveway guarantee in your quote does something subtle but powerful: it tells the client you're confident in your work and your sub-base preparation. Cowboy contractors don't offer guarantees.

Even a 5-year workmanship guarantee on a properly laid resin or block paving driveway is low-risk if you've done the job right — and it shifts the conversation from "which is cheapest?" to "which can I trust?"

The Sub-Base Conversation

This is worth raising on-site. When you explain to a homeowner why your price is higher than the £2,000 quote they got from someone else, the sub-base depth is often the answer: "Our spec is 150mm compacted MOT Type 1. Some contractors use 75mm or skip it altogether. That's why some driveways sink within 3 years and others last 20."

Most homeowners have seen a neighbour's driveway sink. This conversation resonates.
