Quoting Software With No Subscription: Pay Per Quote (UK)

Most quoting software assumes you quote constantly. If you're a one-man band pricing three or four jobs a month — or a landlord-maintenance trade with seasonal work — a £30–£80 monthly subscription means paying every month for a tool you used twice.

There is now a pay-per-quote alternative. Here's how it works and what it costs, with every price checked on 27 August 2026.

Pay per job: how credits work

Speqly sells project credits instead of subscriptions:

PackPricePer project
1 credit£9.99£9.99
5 credits£39.99£8.00
10 credits£69.99£7.00

One credit is one full project — photos in, itemised priced proposal out, including the AI before/after visuals and the one-tap client acceptance page. Credits never expire, and there is no monthly fee, so a quiet month costs you nothing. (Full disclosure: this is our product — the maths below is honest anyway.)

What "no subscription" costs elsewhere

We checked every UK quoting tool's pricing page on 27 August 2026. No other mainstream option sells per quote:

  • Tradify: from £34 per user/month
  • Powered Now: from £28 per user/month
  • YourTradebase: £29/month flat
  • Qted: from £29/month
  • Buildxact: from £89/month
  • Payaca: from £299/month, no free trial

The genuinely free route is a Word or Google Docs template. That works — it just does none of the work: no pricing help, no visuals, no acceptance tracking, and quotes tend to go out days later than they should, which is where jobs are lost.

The break-even maths

Speqly's Solo plan is £79/month for 20 projects (£3.95 each). Credits are £7.00–£9.99 each. So:

  • Under 8–10 projects a month — credits are cheaper. At 4 projects a month you pay about £28–£32 on credits vs £79 on the plan.
  • Over 10 projects a month — the subscription wins, and at full usage costs £3.95 a project.
  • Seasonal trades — credits carry over; a March credit is still valid in November. Subscriptions charge you through the quiet months.

When a subscription is still the better buy

If you quote weekly, want job management (scheduling, timesheets), or have a team, a subscription tool is the right shape — see the full price comparison. Pay-per-quote is for volume that doesn't justify a standing cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there completely free quoting software?

Templates are free; software isn't. Every mainstream tool charges monthly. The closest to free-until-you-need-it is pay-per-job credits, where the tool costs nothing between projects, or Qted's three-months-free intro (card required, then £29/month).

Do Speqly credits expire?

No. Buy a 10-pack at £69.99 and use it over a year if that's your pace.

Can I still send invoices to my accounts package without a subscription?

Accounting sync (Xero; QuickBooks Online in development) unlocks on Speqly's Solo and Crew plans rather than credits — if draft-invoice push matters to you, that's the £79/month tier.
